Biography

Christophe Tellart

Alongside his university studies in languages (Slavonic, Germanic, Caucasian & ancient languages) and harpsichord (continuo), Christophe Tellart specializes in medieval, Baroque and traditional repertoires, particularly hurdy-gurdies and Scottish, Central French & medieval bagpipes.

 

He contributes to the programs and recordings of ensembles such as Hespèrion XXI, Le Poème Harmonique, Diabolus in Musica, Les Lunaisiens, L'Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Paris, L'Orchestre National de Montpellier, La Camera delle lacrime, L'Orchestre Lamoureux, Perceval, Ligeriana, La Compagnie des regains, Joër & L'Arpeggiata, has been a member of the Real, Convivencia & Amadis groups, and performs worldwide. With these and other groups, he has taken part in some forty recordings.

An eclectic musician, polyglot speaking some 30 languages (he is a member ofHypia, theInternational Association of Hyperpolyglots) and translator, he takes part in productions at theOpéra de Paris(Hurlevent/Wuthering Heights),Opéra de Montpellier andOpéra de Rouen(Bastien & Bastienne) based on works by composer Philippe Hersant, for example, as well as film soundtracks(Le Bossu & Le monde vivant) and recordings of music by variety stars such as Axel Bauer.

 

He has also taught at the Centre de Musique Médiévale de Paris (CMMP), performed with musicians such as Carlos Núñez, Gilles Chabenat and Patrick Bouffard, and led workshops and courses in France and abroad.
